Transit Time Flow Measurement - DCT Series of Ultrasonic Flowmeters
back to UltraSonic ->DDF

The Digital Correlation Transit Time flowmeter is designed to utilize the latest surface mount technology. The flowmeter is built on a digital frame work which allows for the storage and transmission of encoded frequency patterns. When correlated together, such patterns offer a high signal to noise ratio, thus increasing the flowmeter's performance. Once on site, diagnostic tools allow the user to determine the optimum operating condition for the flowmeter to ensure continued trouble-free operation.

Time measurement is used to derive the velocity of the liquid flow. This is carried out by two time measurements - one coarse and one fine. The coarse measurement is made by digitally storing the transmitted and received waveforms and passing them through one another. The fine measurement is applied to the phase shift of the encoded transmission frequency.

The correlation produces a recognizable pre-determined pattern. The result is optimum tolerance to suspended particles and aeration within the flowing liquid.
