Design/Operation
The Weir Tracker is a new flow meter from Trimmer
Engineering that totalizes the flow in surface water
systems. Weir Tracker combines a computer with a
pressure sensor that measures head in a weir, flume or
other water measurement device and then computes the
flow rate and the total volume that has passed through
the flow measuring device. Weir Tracker can also be
retrofitted to existing float systems to replace chart
recorders.
Conservation
Tool
Weir Tracker is a valuable water conservation tool.
Weir Tracker provides much better data than reading a
conventional staff gauge once or twice a day. Weir
Tracker constantly monitors water level, giving the
true total flow volume. Weir Tracker works well in
canals or spillways where water levels are always
changing (especially at night.) The Weir Tracker will
keep gathering data on weekends and holidays when
staff gauge readings are more irregular.
Accuracy
Weir Tracker can help improve water measurement
accuracy. A Weir Tracker in a stilling well is more
precise than trying to read a staff gauge constantly
being splashed by small waves. Totalized flow volume
is a better way to measure losses in a stretch of
canal compared to instantaneous measurements. If you
bill on volume delivered basis, Weir Tracker helps to
make the charges as fair and accurate as possible.

Ease
of use, Low Price
Weir Tracker is simple to use and has a low price
compared to other dataloggers. Weir Tracker can be
programmed to read out in any units you choose. The
Weir Tracker can be adjusted to reflect field
calibration measurements. The Weir Tracker is designed
with ultra-low power technology for extended battery
operation. The lithium battery will last over a year.
The Weir Tracker in enclosed in a NEMA 4X enclosure so
the unit is sealed from the harsh outdoor environment.
Installation
Installation does not require a large
structure or power so a Weir Tracker can be placed
almost anywhere. Installing the Weir Tracker in a
stilling well gives a profile so low that vandals will
not even know it is there.
Configurations
The Weir Tracker comes in three mounting
configurations. The vertical, direct mount
configuration is small enough to fit in an 8"
diameter stilling well. Weir Tracker is also available
in a remote readout configuration using either
vertical or submersible probe and can be installed up
to 100 feet away from the pressure sensor. Three
pressure sensor ratings are available to meet a wide
variety of flow conditions. A float-level arrangement
can be substituted for the pressure transducer.
The Weir
Tracker can fill many of your flow measurement needs
when limited data is required and you don't want to
install expensive, complicated dataloggers. Please
